Graduate Development Program

Selection Process

Assessment of Eligibility

  • Australian citizenship, or permanent residency status
  • Degree issued by a recognised university [External website]
  • Graduated in 2008 or graduating in 2009
  • Overseas degrees verified by Overseas Qualifications Unit [External website]
  • Complete application submitted (all required components)

  • Monday 27th July 2009

Web applications close

  • Thursday 27th August 2009 (4.00pm)

Stage 1 - Assessment of High Academic Achievement

  • Information the applicant provides in selection criteria 1 is verified against the statement of attainment for subjects in the relevant degree

Stage 2 - Assessment of Written Applications

  • A panel of assessors consider each applicant’s written responses and record the outcomes
  • Applicants who demonstrate the highest aggregated ratings from Stages 1 and 2 are shortlisted and invited to attend a group interview
  • Unsuccessful applicants at this stage will be notified via mail and will have the opportunity to obtain feedback at the conclusion of the assessment process

Stage 3 - Group Assessment Process

  • Group Interviews will take place on 10th September 2009
  • Attendance at the group interviews is a prerequisite before processing to Stage 4
  • Applicants will be divided into groups and required to work as a team to complete tasks that assess competency levels against a set of defined selection criteria, including teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills and conceptual skills

  • Applicants who demonstrate satisfactory competence in this assessment process will proceed to Stage 4
  • Unsuccessful applicants at this stage will be notified via mail and will have the opportunity to obtain feedback at the conclusion of the assessment process

Stage 4 - Interviews

  • Interviews will take place from 16th to 21st September 2009
  • The interview will take approximately 30 minutes
  • Applicants are given the questions 10 minutes prior to prepare responses
  • A panel consisting of 3 or 4 people ask all applicants the same series of questions
  • At the conclusion of the interview applicants have the opportunity to ask questions
  • Applicants are required to bring original academic records to be sighted

Stage 5 - Referee Checks

  • Applicants should notify their nominated referees after the interview process for the panel to conduct referee checks

Successful applicants

  • Successful applicants will receive an initial phone call followed by a letter of offer
  • Unsuccessful applicants at this stage will be notified via mail and will have the opportunity to obtain feedback at the conclusion of the assessment process
  • All successful applicants need to supply:
    • Criminal record check
    • Proof of identification (100 points)
    • Verification of university degrees and records
